The longest night of the year also lights up

This Wednesday is the winter solstice, a phenomenon that makes December 21st the shortest day of the year. However, in the Historic Centre of Porto, sunset will bring a new approach to the Light theme. During its usual guided tours, the Educational Service of Alumia will integrate a light painting workshop, which aims to create a chain that unites participants and guides to the light of the city.

In this active experience of Light manipulation, the public will be able to Light up the longest night of 2016 in a creative way. Through a technique of gesture snapshot, the Light and the smartphone cameras will be used as raw material to draw or paint.

Lasting approximately one hour, these visit-workshops are free and for the general public. Those who are interested in participating should sign up through the email for one of the four available schedules – 17:20, 19:00, 21:00 or 22:30.

Each tour with a maximum of 30 participants will have the following stops: João Chagas Garden, Vitória Terrace, Amor de Perdição Square, Carmelitas Street, Lóios Square, Almeida Garrett Square and the Cathedral of Porto.
